SqueezeCenter As Windows Service

Configure SqueezeCenter to be run as a service on Windows

By default, SqueezeCenter now starts at Windows login. This change in behavior enables SqueezeCenter to have access to your iTunes library or shared folders on a network.

If you want to run SqueezeCenter as a background service on Windows you will need to run the SqueezeCenter Service Enabler application. Click on Start > Programs > SqueezeCenter > SqueezeCenter Startup Options in Windows to lauch the application. You will see the following screen:

To run SqueezeCenter as a Windows background service, select the following:

Start SqueezeCenter automatically when the computer starts -- This will install SqueezeCenter as a service

To run SqueezeCenter as an application, select the following:

Start SqueezeCenter when I log in -- This will install SqueezeCenter as an application (this is the default behavior for SqueezeCenter when it is first installed).

If you are going to run SqueezeCenter as a background service, you will need to enter your Windows username and password to allow SqueezeCenter to access your iTunes library or shared drives.

The “Next” button in the SqueezeCenter Service Enabler will accept your changes and exit the application.

If you change SqueezeCenter to run as a service, you will need to restart your computer for SqueezeCenter to run.
