Overview

The "My Music" directory is the new name for "Music Library" in the Squeezebox's top menu. For 8.0, usage and structure of "My Music" will be very similar to the current "Music Library" menu.

New Features

The chief new feature of "My Music" (other than the name) is the ability for the user to switch between different music "libraries" within the "My Music" menu. For our purposes, a "library" can be:

  • An instance of SqueezeCenter running on a PC/Mac/Linux computer on the same network as the Squeezebox
  • An instance of SqueezeCenter running on a network (NAS) drive (Fab4 only????) on the same network as the Squeezebox
  • An SD card plugged into the SD card slot (Fab4 only)
  • An HDD, "thumb" drive, or other USB-attached storage device (Fab4 only)

This switch requires a bit of a "tweak" to how the top submenu of "My Music" will need to work.

Use Case: 0 Libraries Detected

PLACEHOLDER text. Needs to be more user-friendly, but you get the idea.

Use Case: 1 (and only 1) Library Detected

This screen should only display very briefly, then auto-transition inside the menu (so the user doesn't have to click through). Sounds like a "gee-whiz" feature, but the vast majority of users will probably have one, and only one, "library" available at any given time. Making them click through every single time might make them sad...
